چکیده

The Go-Back-N and Selective-Repeat automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocols are widely used for error control in computer-communication networks. They are nearly optimal for channels characterized by low error rates and small propagation delays, and thus suitable for many classical data transmission applications. However, these protocols are not eecient for modern non-conventional channels with high error rates and/or large propagation delays, such as mobile links and satellite links. In this paper we present a family of new protocols, termed Asynchronous Retransmission Go-Back-N ARQ protocols, which ooer the potential for better performance in environments characterized by high error rates and/or large propagation delays. We verify that these protocols are deadlock free using the Concurrency Workbench. We also verify that all these new protocols provide the same services to applications as the basic Go-Back-N protocol, and all of them are equivalent to the basic Go-Back-N protocol from the application point view.

Bisimulation analysis of SDL-expressed protocols: a case study

Faster, better networks algorithms are often being discovered, and it is desirable to be able to replace an old algorithm by a new in a manner that is completely transparent to the application using it. This paper investigates the technique for ensuring such transparency for protocols expressed in SDL, via bisimulation checking. We discuss the main issues involved in translating SDL into Concur...

Efficient ARQ Retransmission Schemes for Two-Way Relay Networks

In this paper, we investigate different practical automatic repeat request (ARQ) retransmission protocols for twoway wireless relay networks based on network coding (NC). The idea of NC is applied to increase the achievable throughput for the exchange of information between two terminals through one relay. Using NC, throughput efficiency is significantly improved due to the reduction of the num...

On the performance of additive increase multiplicative decrease (AIMD) protocols in hybrid space-terrestrial networks

It is well known that TCP does not perform well in networks with large propagation delay and high link loss probability, which are typical in hybrid space-terrestrial networks. Implementing Automatic-Repeat-Request (ARQ) retransmission over satellite links in hybrid networks has been proposed to enhance TCP performance by hiding the link losses from TCP. This paper analyzes the impact of implem...
